Want To Be Truly Productive? Start Your Day With An Awesome Morning Routine

Last Updated on February 19, 2022 by Keri

Are you a morning person? Do you jump out of bed, ready to tackle the day? Maybe you have the perfect morning routine that you already follow to get your day started on the right foot?

I know there are people in this world like that, but I haven’t met too many of you!

More than likely, you fall into the other camp. The one where everyone is dragging their groggy selves out of bed, wishing for nothing more than the ability to be able to get straight back in.

Waking up is hard enough as is, but sometimes, getting going isn’t much easier.

I promise you, there are a lot of insanely productive people in the world who have a hard time getting out of bed, just like you and me, yet they are still able to be productive.

How do they do it?
What is their secret?

The thing that might be missing from your morning routine is you!

What I am talking about today definitely goes against traditional morning routine advice. The problem with the morning routines that you see everywhere is that they aren’t created with the individual in mind.

We are all so different. We have different energy levels at different times of the day. We all have different commitments in the morning like kids, or work.

It is in my opinion that there is no “one size fits all” kind of morning routine. Instead, there are things that make up a good morning routine, and your routine should be based on your own personal needs and circumstance.

Start your day off with your favorite beverage, and a great breakfast!

Can Mood Really Boost Productivity?

Do you believe that mood has a direct impact on your productivity?

When I think about some of my most productive days, even just in the last month, they all have one thing in common. I was in a great mood that morning!

On days when you hop out of bed, comb your hair, grab a protein bar, and rush out the door, what kind of mood are you in. Frazzled? Exhausted? Disoriented? Alright, well this is at least how I feel when I do this.

Compare this to a morning where you have time to focus on yourself, and mentally preparing yourself for the day. These days, I feel much more at ease and ready to conquer the day.

It is in my opinion that one of the things that might be missing from our morning routine are things that increase our mood. This could be having a morning cup of coffee while reading the newspaper. Maybe it is doing a crossword for twenty minutes, or listening to a motivating podcast while we do our hair or make our lunch.

3 Secrets to Creating A Morning Routine That Matches Your Personality

Now that you are ready to try building a morning routine that is focused on “Keeping your mood high in the morning so that you can be a productivity machine all day long”; you can begin to focus on what that routine looks like for you.

There are three steps that you should take when you are developing your morning routine.

What is your mood like first thing in the morning?

If you are a complete grump when you get up first thing in the morning, I would suggest doing something that you enjoy that will lift your spirits. Maybe that is turning on your favorite song and dancing. Or maybe that is grabbing your cup of coffee and playing a mind game to get you going.

On the flip side, if you are the happiest person on the planet when you first get up, I would suggest doing something that keeps your energy high. This could mean you take the dog for a walk first thing. Maybe you do a HIIT cardio class.

What are some priorities for you in the morning?

What parts of your morning do you value the most? Is it time with your kids? Is it chatting with your husband before he heads off to work for the day? Maybe it is sitting down with a coffee and your favorite book for fifteen minutes.

You should always include the things that you value the most in your morning routine. Prioritizing things that you value will help you keep your energy levels high all day long.

Where do your strengths lie in the morning?

Are you creative in the morning? Analytical? Are you the most productive and sharp in the morning? Your morning strengths should also be reflected in your morning routine.

If you are creative, you could be crafting or doodling.

Maybe you write best in the morning? Work on your blog first thing, or journal for 15 minutes.

Take some time to think about your strengths when creating your morning routine.
