Master Grocery Lists
A master grocery list is one of my FAVOURITE Bullet Journal layouts to include to streamline how you are meal planning. Once I implemented this layout in my own journal, I saved so much time each week from making my shopping lists!
What is a master grocery list?
Simply put, a master grocery list is a layout that includes a list of the grocery items that you might consider essential in your home.
Personally, I like to have the list broken up into the sections of the grocery store.
– Produce
– Bakery
– Deli
– Fridge
– Freezer
– Dry Goods/Pantry
Under each category, list out some of the things you find yourself buying regularly. Some ideas include:
– Fruit
– Vegetables
– Bread
– Coffee Cream
– Eggs
– Milk
– Butter
– Cheese
– Pasta

Weekly meal planning is simply the act of pre-determining the meals you will prepare for the week ahead. There are a lot of different ways that you can do this, and I encourage you to experiment until you find a strategy that works well for you!
Some weekly meal planning strategies that you could try include:
– Rotational Meal Planning
– Theme night Meal Planning

Alternatively, you could approach weekly meal planning without a specific strategy and just choose meals that sound good for you and your family that week.

Weekly Meal Plan & Grocery List Combined
Another option that you might consider is adding a shopping list along with your weekly meal plan!
This is a strategy I really like to use alongside the master grocery list. On the weekly portion, you only need to include the specific ingredients you need for the specific recipes that aren’t found on your master list!

What is a master meal list?
One of the hardest parts of sticking to a meal planning routine is the time it can take to actually create a meal plan for the week. Then, add to that, you also have to make a grocery list, go shopping, etc. A master meal list is a Bullet Journal layout that you can refer to for a list of meal ideas! This list will help you cut down how much time you are spending on the meal planning step significantly.
To create a master meal list, I recommend sitting down with a notebook and pen and just start brain dumping all of your go-to meals, recipes you want to try, and places of inspiration.
